A full bathroom remodel, planned around how you use it

When the whole room needs work — layout, vanity, toilet, tile floor, lighting, fan — we plan it as one project, so the shower, floor and walls are waterproofed and finished together.

We break the schedule into prep, demolition, rough plumbing and electrical with inspections, waterproofing and tile, glass and fixtures — and confirm the dates before demolition.

  • Layout changes and plumbing moves
  • Vanity, counters, mirrors and lighting
  • Tile floors and walls, heated floor on request
  • Exhaust fan sized to clear the moisture
Marble-look bathroom with a freestanding tub and frameless shower

What a bathroom remodel can include

Showers & tubs

Walk-in showers, tub-to-shower conversions or a new tub. See shower remodeling.

Floors & walls

Tile, LVP and moisture-resistant wall systems, prepped on a flat, solid subfloor.

Vanity & storage

Vanities, medicine cabinets and built-in niches for the space you actually have.

Ventilation & lighting

A properly vented fan and layered lighting — the two things most bathrooms in older homes are missing.

What’s behind the tile

The six layers that decide whether a shower stays dry. Every HHI shower is built this way.

Cutaway of an HHI shower: 1 tile, 2 thin-set, 3 orange waterproofing membrane, 4 backer board, 5 framing with blocking, 6 sloped waterproofed base with a linear drain
  1. 1
Tile & groutPorcelain, ceramic or stone set flat and level, with niches and benches built inside the waterproofed area.
  2. 2
Thin-set mortarBonds the tile to the membrane, mixed and spread to the manufacturer’s spec.
  3. 3
Schluter® waterproofing membraneA continuous waterproof sheet over the whole wet area. Seams, corners and pipe penetrations are sealed — this is the layer that keeps water out of your walls.
  4. 4
Backer boardA stable, moisture-tolerant substrate for tile — never bare drywall left to take the water.
  5. 5
Framing & blockingStuds checked for plumb and square. Solid blocking where grab bars, a bench or a glass door will mount.
  6. 6
Sloped base & drainThe floor is pitched to the drain and waterproofed as one system with the walls, so water has one way out.

Where remodels usually go wrong — and what we do instead

The stories every homeowner has heard from a neighbor. Here’s how we keep them from happening on your job.

Ghosted after the deposit

Cartoon: Ghosted after the deposit
The usual way

The deposit clears, then the calls stop. One crew is stretched across too many jobs, and your money is funding the job before yours.

Contractor reviewing a written estimate with a homeowner
How HHI does it

A written estimate, contract and start date before any deposit. Viktor owns the company and answers his own phone.

A two-week job turns into two months

Cartoon: A two-week job turns into two months
The usual way

Tile gets ordered after demolition, the crew leaves for another job, and you’re showering at the gym.

Installer checking the subfloor with a level
How HHI does it

Selections are confirmed and materials ordered before demolition, and we confirm the work schedule and first-use date with you before we start.

“We found something”

Cartoon: “We found something”
The usual way

A low bid wins the job, then the price climbs every time a wall comes down.

HHI crew patching and sanding a wall
How HHI does it

If we open a wall and find damage, we stop, show you photos and price the fix in writing before doing anything extra.

The leak shows up next winter

Cartoon: The leak shows up next winter
The usual way

Tile goes straight onto drywall or greenboard. It looks great for a year — then water finds the subfloor and the ceiling below.

Installers cutting flooring on site
How HHI does it

Tiled showers get a waterproofing membrane on the walls, corners and drain. Tell us if you want to see it before tile goes up.

Dust in every room of the house

Cartoon: Dust in every room of the house
The usual way

No plastic, no floor protection, and a trail of debris from the front door to the bathroom.

HHI crew working on a ceiling from a ladder
How HHI does it

Before demolition we agree on dust protection, the walkway through your home and how the work area is cleaned up.

Contracted with HHI to install a 350ft aluminum fence. Pricing was very fair (we solicited several bids) but their responsiveness was what really sold us. They travelled from Mandan to Williston to do the install and completed the job in two days despite having to work around tree stumps, landscaping and my irrigation system. They were very professional and had a solution for every hiccup during the process. Very satisfied with the product, workmanship and service recieved.

Questions homeowners ask

How long does a bathroom remodel take?

It depends on the scope. If it is your only bathroom, tell us before we schedule — we’ll discuss which nights the toilet or shower may be unavailable and what must be ready before demolition.

Can I keep using the bathroom during the remodel?

Usually not during demolition and waterproofing. We schedule so the bathroom is out of service for as few days as possible and tell you the dates up front.

Do I need a permit?

It depends on what changes — plumbing and electrical work often need permits. Your written scope states who files the permit and who pays the fees.

How much does a shower remodel cost in Bismarck?

Viktor’s preliminary budget for an ordinary shower replacement is $5,000–$15,000. Changing the floor, the drain or a wall pushes it higher: one Bismarck estimate for a low-threshold panel shower came to $14,500–$17,000, including construction and a selection allowance. A wider shower in New Salem was estimated at $20,500–$23,500 because the plan moved a wall and a heater.

Panels or tile?

We install both. Grout-free panels have smooth or molded tile-look surfaces. With custom tile, you can choose the layout, niche and bench. We’ll compare the two systems for your opening.

Can I buy the flooring myself?

Yes. Send the product label, floor area and photos. We check whether the existing surface can stay and specify removal, preparation and reusable trim in the quote.
