Wet drywall or flooring after a leak? We repair what it damaged

We find out where the water first appeared, which materials were affected, what has already been removed and who fixed the source. HHI can provide drying and dehumidification in an agreed scope, then restore insulation, drywall, paint, base trim and flooring.

If another crew has already removed the water, we can review its drying notes and estimate the remaining repairs. We explain which materials can stay, which need to come out and what must happen before the walls and floors are closed.

  • Drying and dehumidification in an agreed scope
  • Insulation, drywall, paint, trim and flooring rebuilt

One Bismarck basement repair estimate

In one Bismarck basement, opening the wall and floor revealed damage around the window frame, inside the wall and beneath the carpet. HHI prepared a $17,850 repair estimate (September 2026). The water-entry path still needed to be confirmed.

What HHI pricedAmountWhat the number covered
Protection, selective demolition and debris$1,150Work area protected; damaged materials removed.Estimate line
Treatment of accessible damp surfaces$1,200Cleaning and treatment of reachable areas — not a daily drying-equipment rate.Allowance
Window: remove and reinstall, replace framing$1,700The serviceable window was kept; damaged perimeter framing replaced.Estimate line
Insulation, drywall, primer and paint$500 + $1,500 + $750About 50 sq. ft. of insulation and about 150 sq. ft. of drywall.Estimate lines
Local slab preparation and repair$3,000Where the slab was suitable for a local repair.Estimate line
Carpet out, new flooring material, installation$900 + $3,000 + $3,000About 600 sq. ft.Estimate lines
Base trim, transitions, final cleaning and check$700 + $450Finish work and a check of accessible areas.Estimate lines
Preliminary total$17,850About 8–12 business days of construction after drying, approval and material delivery.Preliminary estimate

Drying time depends on the situation and isn’t priced per day here. A cracked slab that had shifted needed a specialist’s assessment before the local repair. These are past HHI estimates in US dollars, shown with the scope they priced — not a quote for your home. Your project gets its own measured, written estimate.

Questions homeowners ask

The leak looks dry. Should I still have it checked?

Yes. A dry carpet surface can hide damp padding or wall materials. We look at the affected layers and discuss the source, drying and repairs before covering them.

Another company already dried it. Can you rebuild?

Yes, we can rebuild after another company handles the drying. Keep its notes and photos. We’ll inspect what is exposed and give you a written scope for the walls, flooring and trim.

What should I send my insurer?

Ask your insurer what it needs. Keep dated photos, receipts, drying notes and our written repair estimate. Your insurer decides coverage.
